The Deciding Factor

It’s absurd to wonder,
To conjure the thought of what you see in me,
Two passing ships in the dark sea,
Who could care what lies underneath?
The clutter of betrayal,
And a wounded heart to rejection,
You saw what you wanted to see.
Behind the fear and the desperate call of lonely despair,
It was easy to use what was there.
I understand,
Your decision to flee,
Racing through time,
To find the person inside,
Willingly to fight for what was in front of your eyes,
Begging to be worshiped,
Asking to be loved,
And there I stood waving goodbye.
For I was, only could be the deciding factor,
Between love and a broken heart.
